The elevator pitch of M.A.S.S builder is you get to build a giant robot, customize its every piece, design its guns and energy weapons, then take it out to fight against hordes of giant monsters.
It's a great pitch, and when it works, it really works.
The game's real issues start coming in somewhere between hours 5 and 50. It's around then that you realize you start with almost no parts unlocked, and that unlocking all the cool robot pieces will take tens of hours of grinding the same few missions over and over again.
Additionally, there are very few "transformative" upgrades. Most of the time, you're spending currency to make your numbers go up to match the enemy's number which is also going up.
Overall, it's a game which has promise, but may never reach it. It is fun, and you'll enjoy yourself playing it - but it doesn't take long before you're scraping the bottom of the shallow barrel of game mechanics.
