I really liked Utawarerumono 2 – but the pace confused me a little bit. At first it had NOTHING to do with the previous entry apart from some déjà vu moments, and after that there like 7 or 8 hours where the story was more like nonsense put together.
Once the main scenario started to make sense the whole thing went through the slice-of-life format for almost 10 hours with an occasional strategy game stage.
It wasn’t until 17 hours into it that it really felt like the plot started to be revealed.
So… What is this really this game about? It is mostly a harem/slice-of-life visual novel comedy, with some basic strategy game RPG aspects, that later connects into the major ongoing story started in the first game.
It does pay off in the ending, but I think if you read reviews here and there you might be under the impression that this is one of those "things happening all the time" Visual Novel, and the truth is that the pacing is far from that.
Not complaining, just leaving the note for whoever picks it knows what they are really going into.
Definitely reading the final visual novel entry …

Definitely reading the final visual novel entry soon!
I am around 7 or 8 hours in into this, and I am really liking it. It took a while to intertwine with the previous entry, which had me a little bit anxious at first as I couldn't connect the dots.... but now it has taken a good direction.
