Probably the biggest surprise for me this year.

The game delivers what it promises. Its a low poly 3D horror game that looks and feels like its from the "golden age".

Its intention is to throw you back to this time where concepts for 3D games weren't established. Where almost every game you played tried something new, tried to set a standard. This game captures this vibe pretty good if you ask me.

In this process it is not only a hommage to this era but also strongly to the first Silent Hill game. Beeing it the overall sound design (loud and distinct footsteps, subtile and atmospherical music), the camera angles, the tank controls or the vibe in general. It almost feels like someone tried to make his own Silent Hill game but with less budget and not as dark and disturbing. In fact this game is made by a single person with a distinct vision which you will find out as you play the game.

For me - a low poly lover - Back in 1995 is a hidden and unpolished gem. If you dont expect much you might be surprised. And one last thing that might spare you some confusion or frustation: Don't quit the game when you think it might be over. Maybe there is still something to do.
