The third title in the Hexcells series, Infinite feels just right to me. Other than 1 notably insane puzzle the difficulty hits just right between the too easy first game and the too hard second game (In my opinion, though I suspect me getting better as I play these back to back might influence that opinion) and the option to play "infinite" generated levels with seeds plus user generated content gives this one the legs and replayability that the other two didn't have. I'd still recommend the first game to anyone new who isn't already great at puzzles, but they are cheap enough that its not a big deal to pick up 2 or all 3.

Compared to the previous two Hexcells games:

  • Levels are more fun than Hexcells Plus, and more challenging than base Hexcells
  • Adds randomly generated level and user-made levels

A Marked Improvement

While I enjoyed the last two games, this entry is definitely a cut above. The balance of puzzles is better, the ability to save progress and return to a puzzle later is much appreciated, and the infinite puzzles are really fun as well.
