Terinati's review of Beyond Blue

I think all the low rating is purely because people don't like walking sims. And that's fine, they're not for everybody. I'm not a HUGE fan of walking sims unless they've got a really engaging narrative. Honestly I didn't think I was going to enjoy this one (technically a swimming sim I guess, not a walking sim) but they made me feel real feelings. Short, but A+ writing, good VAs, PHENOMENAL visuals, and the soundtrack absolutely SLAPS.

Type of game that you can have your dog in front of screen for
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

Now, I am gonna come full on transparent and say: Walking simulators (or swimming simulators) are not particularly entertaining for me, even if they are funded by philanthropists that believe the ocean is one of the key aspects of very life existing on earth (which at this point seems useless to talk about considering Trump signed an accord to ignore all of that and double time rape the planet).

But the only way I could ever see myself pitching this game to someone else is: Do you like holding the analog stick in a forward direction for more 2 minutes, are you a fan of going from Point A to point B to scan a few sperm whales and go to the other waypoint and scan some more, like some kind of underwater detective? Do you want it to be very slow swimming that is not inherently fun? Now maybe I'm expecting every game movement to be in itself fun, but I remember back in the good old days where the key component of a game is that it felt good to move around, a 3D platformer this game is not.

Also if this game wishes to be educational, it …

Also if this game wishes to be educational, it has taught me anything I did not already know, unless you mean fun facts about the little aquatic animals you scan (in this case the fun facts are just basic facts), I am not entirely sure also if scuba divers have this type of technology today too! So it is a bit sci-fi.

Short But Sweet
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

This game isn't super long, but I also don't think making it any longer would have benefitted the game. They knew how to pace the story and got in, got out. The plot itself isn't super deep or anything, but there were a few different plot threads that were explored and all of them were wrapped up rather nicely by the end or in the epilogue. (I dunno what other reviews are talking about when they claim otherwise.) It's a nice, peaceful game that allows you to explore the ocean and the creatures therein. There's no combat or danger. Just enjoy the scenery and lovely music, learn a bit about marine life, and have a bit of story to round things out.

Not bad

Its an ok-ish game.I felt the gameplay to be really boring as there wasnt much to do in it and the world felt empty at times. As pros the game has some good songs and was quite informative and fun to learn and see some sea creatures. But it doesnt do anything to grab hold on to a casual gamer.I think the game will be more enjoyable for people who really love learning about the ocean and the creatures in it.I still think abzu does a better job in making us love the ocean.
