The Voice
The choice of voice for the child character is, in my view, a clear misjudgment. The choice of voice for the child character is, in my view, a clear misjudgment. The voice sounds heavily artificial and unnatural, which makes the character unbelievable and repeatedly pulls the listener out of the story. It is particularly irritating that this is apparently not a boy at all, but an adult female voice actor forcing an exaggerated childlike tone. The result is exhausting and unintentionally ridiculous.
The dialogues between mother and child are also difficult to endure at times, as they sound stiff and unrealistic. Instead of conveying emotion, they provoke discomfort and second-hand embarrassment. Overall, the listening experience suffers significantly due to the poor casting decision and the weak execution of the dialogue.
