Grand Restore
This game is wonderful! I beat it yesterday... though I'm not sure I'm in the mood to write a full-blown review of it right now. But let it be known I DID COMPLETE THIS. On a whim. This game is wonderful! I beat it yesterday... though I'm not sure I'm in the mood to write a full-blown review of it right now. But let it be known I DID COMPLETE THIS. On a whim. I like Little Nemo, but I was double-interested by the visuals of this game and it also being from a debut indie studio. With no expectations (didn't even know a new Little Nemo game was out lmao), I had a very marvelous time with this.
I enjoy Metroidvanias, but between the skill ceiling tending to climb too high for my ability to account for or just plain getting lost and exhausted with it... I don't tend to roll credits on these types of games a whole lot! But I went through the effort for this one and was very happy with my 10ish hours in dream world. In contrast, I found this game tough, but never too tough for me; a stiff challenge, but gentle where it counts. Special shout-out to the dynamic scaling difficulty. Did God Hand inspire this game?! Amazing.
The one thing I will say that breaks my heart—my investment was not so much in the story for this one. There IS good writing; true moments of wistful reflection and beauty; it's nice, and very cute and soft, but it was never the driving force for me; the act of playing and exploring and messing with new power-ups and exploring this gorgeous dream-world was the thing. So when the ending hit me, I got a bit, "hmm," about the story as a whole, but my enjoyment of the game came completely from the journey and not the destination. Not that I didn't enjoy the writing, but... never sang to me like the visuals and gameplay did, y'know? I'm a selfish girl and I would like to be serenaded from all angles. That's me.
Oh... is this enough to count as a full review? I guess I'll change it from a status update then. Hold on a second.

OK I did it. I mean, nothing changed for you, but, yeah it's a review now. Also the soundtrack is marvelous and makes me want to cry and I would like an official release now please Peter Berkman of Anamanaguchi. Look just listen to this for a little bit with me and tell me you don't want to undergo an amazing and mystical adventure. I DARE YOU.
THANX FOR READING! XOXO <3
