Fist of the North Star: 10 Big Brawls for the King of the Universe is a one-on-one fighting game for the Game Boy developed by Shouei System and originally released by Toei Animation in Japan on December 22, 1989. An American version was released by Electro Brain on April 1990, making it one of the few Hokuto no Ken video games released overseas. Other than a different title screen (which features a new artwork depicting Kenshiro and Raoh similar to the cover art of the first Famicom game), the two versions are otherwise identical.

A fun romp, for about 40 Minutes
This review is for the Game Boy version

My girlfriend picked this one up for me on Ebay for real cheap, just to have a chuckle one evening, and a chuckle we had. The character selection offers 10 whole fights, most of which are clones of each other with slight alterations. (Bigger projectiles, 1 different attack) Certain characters are near unplayable, while others are absolutely broken.

That Being said, we had a great time, laughing at the silly animations and how agile and spry all top tier characters were. Is this a good game with a balanced roster, varied moves, interesting stages, stand out music, or any semblance of a story? Absolutely not, but I don't think we expected it to either.

Despite how lackluster nearly everything about the game was, we had a good time for about 40 minutes, before shelving it forever.

Final Score: Solid 4

This game was a cinch. All you have to do is keep launching your fireball attack while your opponent does the same, just jump to dodge his attack and launch your fireball, repeat until enemy is defeated. 10 levels of this and the game is done. Not a TERRIBLE game, but definitely not the best. There's a leveling system but it's unnecessary due to the fireball trick. Took about 15-20 minutes to finish.
