Fictorum is an action RPG featuring destructible environments, a procedural node-based world map, and dynamic magic shaping. A reign of terror never feels so satisfying as when you leave a literal pile of rubble in your wake. Fictorum is an action role-playing game that features fully-destructible structures, a randomized node-based world map, and a satisfying magic system with on-the-fly spell shaping and customization. In Fictorum, your mage wields real, legendary power right from the start—unlike those found in most magic-centric games. Our spellcasting and shaping system grants the player an unrivaled level of customization and reconfiguration. Up to three runes can be applied to a spell, each affecting a different spell characteristic, and can be changed to suit the player’s current need, interest, or whim. You might amplify ice blasts to freeze enemies in place, expand the radius of a fireball explosion to crumble a bridge and hinder pursuers, or chain a lightning attack together to strike several clustered targets. Shaping makes spellcasting tactical and satisfying; an experience more about tailoring your magical arsenal to effectively, efficiently, and enthusiastically destroy every obstacle. Yet, challenge is abundant—the wizard must bring down a sprawling empire by himself. Your journey across the randomly-generated world map features locations chock full of enemies and structures to destroy. Less

Good enough for my Dungeons and Dragons itch but that's about it.
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version
  1. This game has one flaw, RNG items and spell acquisition. You're stuck with fireball for a long time. HOWEVER, this is remedied with Debug Mode. It's the only way to enjoy this game.

  2. If for example, you want to roleplay your DnD Sorcerer Blaster with Scorching Ray, Fireball and Chain Lightning, it can be done in combination with some runes (equivalent to DnD's metamagic). If you want something like Fly or Overland Flight, ascended title and armor is required. A magic swordsman is also possible.

  3. The rune system is confusing AF. Each spell can be slotted with each rune for a max of three. The issues lies with the UI not showing properly which rune is slotted to which spell and slotting runes must be drag and NOT click.

  4. Can't seem to get haste to work in the 6 hours played. It's not intuitive. The rest are good.

  5. I wish it had a 180 degree turn because enemies attack off camera (in some games such as DMC5, enemies do not attack if the camera not directed to the AIs),.given how unforgiving this game is because there are no spells in healing HP.

  6. It really doesnt have a story. The best …

  6. It really doesnt have a story. The best it can do are independent texts narrative between nodes.

  7. The AI in this game have a knack for attacking. Dont let your guard down. The inquisition, once it catches up to the player, is almost equivalent to game over

  8. There are no healing spells in this game. Only potions and rest can heal HP. Resting causes the inquisition to catch up to the player.

  9. While there are spell tomes where you can use spells, rings also have them but theyre called abilities. Applying abilities to rings is possible. It's the rings that have blink, dash, vault (high jump).

  10. Instead of invisible wall, Fictorum copies Sekiro and Dark Souls. By that I mean, Fictorum setting is atop the mountains but instead of death, we get faling damage.

In sum, this game has a great magic system the same as with Lichdom Battlemage but in everything else expectation should be low. I wish it had a story as good as Outward (another game with great magic system).
