I do wish they had added more enemies. Especially the boss. There are 3 boss encounters, the first and third is the same enemy and the second is a fight with two elites. A clear case of "we didn't have budget to design more than one boss".

Pretty fun. The rogelike structure is kind of meh since there's not a lot of enemy and environment variety, but the core gameplay is fun. Parry to deal armour damage and then swing on the indicated directions to land critical hits. There is a few weapons that add some variety but it's got the usual problem that if you land on a combination that you like and then spend a lot of resourced upgrading them, then there's almost no incentive to change or unlock new weapons that will surely deal less damage until you spend a few runs and upgrade them.

But so what if it doesn't have a lot of replay value? The game's got 4-6 solid hours of fun gameplay.

This game's got the usual problem that after upgrading your weapons there's no motivation of unlocking new ones since they deal much lower damage.

I wasn't expecting to like this game so much, but here we are. Although not Mariana's Trench, gameplay is not without depth. Enemies have their patterns which are fun to learn, and some boosts can change the way you play, like the one that adds damage if you alternate weapons between strikes. Enemies have their patterns which are fun to learn, and some boosts can change the way you play, like the one that adds damage if you alternate weapons between strikes. Although I would love to have more variety, like I remember Hades had. I tried different weapons and they feel balanced even while enabling slightly different playstyles, which also was a surprise.

I'm not sold on the roguelike aspects, but the core mechanics are spot on. I like that you can't just thrash about, but instead need to plan strikes more carefully, understanding when the enemy is open. The parry mechanic is great and requires some learning. I'm not sold on the roguelike aspects, but the core mechanics are spot on. I like that you can't just thrash about, but instead need to plan strikes more carefully, understanding when the enemy is open. The parry mechanic is great and requires some learning. At first I was really crappy but eventually I learnt to quickly read the prompts and parry with my left sword while attacking with the right.

Enemy variety is not huge, though. The first part of the game has only a single type of low-level minion and two type of tougher enemy with especial attacks. After the first boss I found ranged enemies too, which do change the playstyle. But it would be nice to have more variety in general.

I was googling for physically active VR games and this came up. Pretty fun and challenging and I like the style.

Fun hack and slash VR game

It's something like punch out, but with swords. It's arcade, not a simulation, but it's good. The game shows you the direction you're supposed to block, strike or dodge and the dash move feels nice. 👍

VR hack & slash sword fighting game. Really cool visuals and tough when two of the enemies tag-team you. Still haven't beaten the first boss yet. I don't really understand all the mechanics yet, so I'll need to find some review threads online and see what's up. It's an Early Access release and there's not a ton of info.
