God's Trigger (2019)

First impression that game gave me is that i'm going to play hotline miami with angels, demons and super abilities. Indeed, you play as angel harry and demon Judy with their unique skill set and basic abilities, like dash for harry and teleport for Judy. By playing game you'll receive new special abilities like freezing time in certain radius, reflecting bullets or controlling enemies.

The game might be played with your friend, but only in local. Furthermore, i got a thought that game is intended to play by two people, because there is a lot of moments, including abilities that you'll get, that useless or make game slower without a friend.

The plot is simple - Harry, the angel, falls from heaven and looses his wings, why this is happened player does not know. He need to return to the heaven but he does not know how, so he decides to find 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse to find a way to go back. On his way Harry find demon July that has same goals on finding horsemens, so they team up and go crushing some heads.

The game has some cons that make me upset or angry and totally made game play not fun to play.

1. Music. It's static, same for the whole chapter and not so energizing as it might be. Can't name any music that i like or even sing a melody after fully completing game.

2. Ai is stupid, some of his scripts are seen by an unarmed eye, like in stage when Judy plays as sniper and Harry runs through all corridors. If you miss with snipe rifle or make nonfatal shot all enemies will hide near walls where sniper could not reach them. A more down-to-earth example is that all enemies after hearing a shot will run towards you like a living-train waiting for your bullets to straight shot them.

3. To tip the scales of ai stupidity, they gain ability of 100% aim, so while your guns might have recoil, their, except of shotguns, will hit straight to you.

4. Hit registration is VERY weird. I got tons of moments where i killed melee attacking enemy and at the same moment his attack reaches me and take me with him directly to grave.

All this cons are killing the dynamic gameplay of this game, which is very crucial for this types of games, including all stupid deaths that you might encounter, game becomes totally not fun to play and only leads to rage quite.

The pros that i see in this game, is that this game really short and might be completed by one evening, so you truly wont get bored. The second thing, that sadly, i did not encounter, is that you can pay with your friend, and maybe, this will make game much more fun to you to play.

Looking to steam reviews, many people might not agree with me, but its up to you to decided if the game is worth a shot, but my opinion you already see in stars.

Intro

This is a top-down room-to-room action game in which you die to a single hit. Basically Hotline Miami in a Western-ish setting.

Positive

• It's pretty bloody.
• Two characters to play with, each with a variety of skills to tweak your playstyle.
• The core gameplay is okay.

Negative

• Terrible music.
• Awful story & dialogue.
• Looks like a PS3 game but runs terribly in 4K for some reason.
• The skills menu is tiny for some reason (like 1/8th of the screen).
• Stealth kill is bound to R. It's super-awkward and you seemingly can't to rebind buttons.
• It's sometimes hard to tell which way an enemy is facing.
• Stealth kills don't always respond properly.
• Even at the highest sensitivity setting the mouse still hurt my wrist after a few minutes. It's really bad.
• Enemies are inhumanly fast.
• The above two result in frustrating deaths.

Conclusion

While it's mildly amusing God's Trigger isn't worth the assault on your eyes, ears and wrists.
