Part of the Simple 2000 series of games. Tamsoft delivers the tale of a Riho; a Bikini model who becomes a giant after being stung by some sort of alien jellyfish. You then are given the task of measuring her dimensions, chasing and then bringing her back down to size. You take on the role of a Helicopter, Jet and Tank while Riho rampages around Japan causing destruction and mayhem. Gameplay varies from measuring Riho, chasing her down a highway and protecting her sleeping form from alien squids while flying over the ocean. As this is a Simple 2000 game, … More

As this is a Simple 2000 game, Demolition Girl is short and simple. The controls for each vehicle are similar and the graphical style is more or less consistent with other Tamsoft titles in the Simple 2000 series. Less

Please...callmeYork's review of Demolition Girl
This review is for the PlayStation 2 version

This is one of those semi-obscure Simple Series budget games. It was developed by Tamsoft, who are best known for OneChanbara (bikini-wearing women fighting monsters) and Senran Kagura (ninja schoolgirls fighting other ninja schoolgirls, and sometimes their clothes fall off???) - both seem like pretty pervy franchises, but they keep making them so I guess someone out there is buying them.

Demolition Girl tells a familiar story: Japanese Idol gets bitten by an alien at the beach, turning her into a giant bikini-clad Kaiju. Now you must pilot a helicopter (and eventually a fighter jet and tank) to complete certain tasks to prevent her from being a threat to Japan. Over the six-mission story campaign you will need to take her measurements to determine if she is a threat, anaesthetize her, fight off some aliens over the ocean, shoot at her alien jellyfish hat that gives her laser powers, chase her with a tank before she gets to Tokyo, and then shrink her as she climbs a building while also fighting a giant laser-spewing Jellyfish.

There’s also a couple of other modes that provide different objectives, but I only played the Story Mode, which takes about an hour. I can’t conclusively say how sleazy this game is, because despite there being a very big bikini woman on screen always, you will spend the majority of your playtime focusing intently on successfully controlling the helicopter. It feels very stiff and took most of the story mode’s runtime to feel comfortable with, requiring both the d-pad and the four face buttons to maneuver it. There are also special weapons like a giant slice of cake that she will stop to eat, or you can drop a giant bowl on her head. It’s a silly game.

I don’t think I could really recommend this one to anyone, but there is a certain amount of novelty that will please those interested in the weirder side of the PS2’s catalogue. Apparently Riho Fubata, the Demolition Girl herself, appears in a couple of other Simple Series games, which is kind of interesting. I guess I would recommend this game to people who hate audio in cutscenes, instead preferring awkwardly silent slideshows that feel like they last forever.
