One of the best Metroidvanias this year.

Biogun was one of my most anticipated games period, and it really did not disappoint. The game is like Metroidvania candy. Every element is so well done, with great systems in exploration and combat, very hand crafted level design, tons of quests and just a variety of well-made aspect of the gameplay. It’s everything I had hoped it would be and more, and has a deep understanding of the genre.

That said, it’s not perfect. It’s still a little bit buggy, so hopefully things will get ironed out on that front. I had some framerate drops and a variety of other strange bugs, but the dev has been super responsive. Besides that, I do wish the game had some way to make 100%ing more possible. The map is really well done, but the scanning system is pretty impossible to 100% if you are just missing one or two scans (me).

Hopefully things get ironed out so this will get the positive review score it deserves. Sure, pay attention to the critiques of performance and wait a bit if you’re playing on steam deck or whatever, but don’t outright dismiss this game. It’s TOP notch and definitely one of my favorites …
