So far I believe I'm getting to the halfway point of the first game and it's been surprisingly fun. The game looks a bit ugly and plays a bit clunky but other than that, it's a fun addicting game with a nice, super-relaxing soundtrack. I was initially waiting for it to be a lot more like Stardew Valley but at least the first Cattails leans more heavily to the RPG side than lifesim. You mostly go scouring the game world, talking to townsfolk, collecting herbs, battling other cats, levelling up your stats, learning new skills and selling your loot. Although, it also has many things pretty clearly inspired by farming sims and especially Stardew Valley (UI, social relationships, mining, farming sim mainstays like festivals and home improvements etc.).
Main thing that irks me in this game are the battles with other cats. The game doesn't really say what happens but when you beat another cat, a small ghost pops up as if its their soul that leaves their body. And battles happen a lot. I don't want to kill others. :( To battle this gruesome implication, in my head canon, all cats are treated by the town doctors after battle since that's what happens if the player's cat fall in battle too. No such bad vibes in a game as cozy as this, please.
