This is easily the greatest Hiking-While-Exhausted simulator ever designed.
Apart from that, Miasmata skillfully uses atmosphere and a player's natural instinct to explore to replace convoluted gameplay mechanics or excessive scripting. The game can be boiled down to the following: explore the island, collect the plants, construct a map, and create the medicine you need to live. The storyline that accompanies it is novel enough, if very simple, and the gameplay mechanics that start off feeling slap-dash quickly become immersive; if you've ever had a serious flu or fever, you empathize with your clumsy, plague-ridden hero immediately.
I wouldn't say this is a game for everyone, as it's definitely slow-paced and artsy, but for anyone in the mood for a beautifully crafted 3D wanderer (I'm tempted to consider it a Metroidvania-type, but that's just too much of a stretch), then definitely consider shelling out a few bucks and helping a pair of indie programming brothers afford to make more excellent weirdness.
