A Classic that has far better Alternatives now
I bought this on a super Steam sale. I played it years and years ago and loved it.
I fired it up on my Steam Deck, which it surprisingly works well on! Microing the battles isn't great, but since the AI and battles aren't really that great in the first place it doesn't really matter.

I bought this on a super Steam sale. I played it years and years ago and loved it.
I fired it up on my Steam Deck, which it surprisingly works well on! Microing the battles isn't great, but since the AI and battles aren't really that great in the first place it doesn't really matter.
Playing the first map and part of the second, I am forced to conclude that its a game that can be fun to burn a little bit of time, but really can mostly be experienced in a few turns.
I'm sure bigger conflicts, particularly in castles, can offer something more. But, largely the economic options and army options are basic and inferior to anything that games like Stronghold add.
