The 4 stars is for the base game. Same game, but it runs better. The Star-Crossed World content isn't worth the extra cost. It's about 12-14 remixed levels (not even entirely new) with no new abilities, upgrades, or mouth modes. Definitely feels like a lesser experience for the extra $20 I spent on it. The 4 stars is for the base game. Same game, but it runs better. The Star-Crossed World content isn't worth the extra cost. It's about 12-14 remixed levels (not even entirely new) with no new abilities, upgrades, or mouth modes. Definitely feels like a lesser experience for the extra $20 I spent on it. This isn't like Bowser's Fury, it's just more of the same. I just finished the boss, skipping the post game and figurines. Also surprised I didn't mention it in my review of the first game, but this is the worst Kirby game in terms of letting you know abilities. There's no movelist on pause, so coming back to this was a bit rough since I didn't know what I was able to do.

It's hard to say whether this was worth the extra $20. I really enjoyed the base game when I played it a couple years ago, and the new additions to this fit in so well that if you hadn't previously played it, you might not realize they're new at all (except maybe for the "starry" theme of the levels). It adds a couple new playable objects like the spring (meh) and the gear (a worthy addition), but it doesn't add any of the in-between time-based challenges that would've fit really nicely with those new types. There were supposedly graphics and performance enhancements that brought the whole game up to switch 2 levels but I didn't really notice that (and didn't compare side-by-side or anything). I'd say overall it added just a few hours of gameplay, which the upgrade price doesn't really seem to justify.

Hardcore Kirby fan? Of course you'll get it. Everyone else that just enjoyed the original? Not quite such an obvious choice.
