holy hell is this shooter hard

this is an excellent neo geo MVS arcade game. It is close to perfect. It only has the fault of off the charts difficulty, some slightly finnicky sensitivity in controls and slow down at times (could be emulator)

its bright, garish has the bio-tech theme throughout, very beautiful levels and really crazy looking boss monsters that have a mix up of strategies and suprises. you even get pseudo 3d renders and brief (and very dated custcenes) IT sounds nice with audio (sound and music) the power up system i found really simple but effective (however deaths result in a loss of powerups

the games difficult in three main ways. first theres a lot of movement, explosions and different bullet types. in short theres lots of things that can kill you and ways to die, second everytime you die you lose your powers, which are pretty much necessary to actually thrust ahead instead of turtling in some hopeful corner. and third, everytime you die you get moved back to a checkpoint, i hate it when coin-op games in this era do this as it pretty much means no matter how much change you pump in the thing you may simply not …

Typically when I think of neo geo shooter its aero fighters, i'd never even heard of this one. but its quite good.

If you have fond memories of R-type do check it out.
