An engaging Rear Window type adventure

What I love about Mi'pu'mi Games is that the time and place their games take place is very important to the story. It's not just set dressing. This one takes places as Spain is making the transition to democracy, which not everyone is happy about. As a retired police officer, you team up with a journalist to solve a murder that took place on your street.

It's like a combination of Rear Window, in that you're observing and photographing, as opposed to doing the investigating yourself. Your partner goes and searches for clues and talks to people while you direct and look out for her. Overall, I thought it was quite good. Nice writing and voice acting, great pacing. At around 3 hours it was the perfect length. The story was very engaging, and though there wasn't a ton to the gameplay it was satisfying in a voyeuristic sort of way

ATadMad's review of The Flower Collectors

Very mixed feelings here. Had potential and I do appreciate what it was trying to do, but unfortunately fell a bit flat.

Pros:

  • Interesting storyline based on historical events
  • Nice soundtrack
  • Interesting characters

Cons:

  • Poor mechanics
  • Extremely hand-held. There's no room to go wrong in this game
  • Boring gameplay. All you do is look through binoculars or a camera and talk to the person who is actually doing all the work
  • Voice acting is shaky at the beginning but does improve towards the end
  • Character animation is terrible

I probably would only consider this game on a sale.

giopep's review of The Flower Collectors

From the creators of The Lion's Song, this is another quite interesting narrative adventure game. Set in 1977 Barcelona, it's a homage to Rear Window in which you control an ex cop investigating on a homicide from his apartment. Nice story, fun interactions, two/three hours of engaging gameplay. It's not a hardcore old school adventure game but it's really good.
