Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars – The Director's Cut is an enhanced remake and director's cut of the classic 1996 point-and-click adventure game Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars. Unlike in the original game, where George Stobbart is the only playable character, Nicole Collard is controllable for selected game sections. I played the original version of this at least a couple of times in my teens, and now I'm finally getting to the Director's Cut. (Actually, I'd started playing it on the Wii some years ago but put it aside after playing through the first couple of hours.)

About 90 minutes in, I'm enjoying playing this with an Xbox 360 controller—after a little bit of mapping & configuration—by loading my GOG copy through Steam; mouse control would be quicker, but I love being able to sit back on the sofa and delve back into this classic in front of the television!

I'm not sure now I feel about the new opening—is it just nostalgia that makes think that starting with George in the café was better? (That said, the new chapter is a decent one in itself.)
