Hockey with an attitude! It's mutated mayhem on the ice in the wildest, funniest, goriest game ever. 23 wild mutant teams and 23 unique arenas, each with bizarre obstacles like exploding mines and ice pits. Call nasty plays like exploding pucks and rocket packs. Set the level of gory action, then watch the body parts go flying. Unique rules like bribing refs, funny penalties, and 2-point bonus goals. Use wild weapons: axes, sledgehammers and chainsaws. Two types of nets - Standard and Battle (protected by spikes). Substitute tired goalies with the "Demon Net."

I played several hockey games on the Genesis back in the day, but not this one. Had to rectify that, because come on, you get to play as goblins, robots, and skeletons, and they can straight up kill their opponents with chainsaws and hammers. Random obstacles on the ice like sharks and mines are also a hoot. It's all the sort of entertainment I would've just eaten up as a kid. It's very over-the-top and silly, and I'm all for more of this sort of irreverent nonsense.

Sadly, the game itself plays pretty horribly. Shooting is shit, passing is a crapshoot, penalties are random as hell, and fighting is annoyingly stupid. And, for whatever reason, my goalie keeps wanting to just randomly skate five feet away from his net (WHYYYYY). I can see this game being good for a laugh when playing with a friend every now and then, but if you want an actual good hockey game just stick with the NHLs.
