As an adult, I don't play a lot of sandbox games. When work and household chores are done and it's time to relax, I'm ready to be taken on someone else's journey for a while.
But when I saw Wobbledogs in a bundle (I honestly can't remember which one) alongside a couple of other games I wanted, something caught my eye. I think the emphasis on breeding and toys brought to mind those old PF Magic Petz gamesI played in my youth. It also seemed very, very silly, which is generally a plus.
An hour or two in, I was feeling a little bored. New dogs were a little different, there was some stuff to do, but it felt like there wasn't much to it.
And then I got my first interesting mutation. And I unlocked more items, some of which resulted in interesting new mechanics. I found a few secrets. I looked at some of the in-game goals and trophies and realized I could probably figure out how to breed wobbledogs that met the requirements.
And now it's many hours later, and I'm still enjoying it.
