Wobbledogs

Cute and silly sandbox. If you like creature collectors and crossbeeding, this might be your thing. I'm just not really into them, otherwise I'd probably stick with it, but it's too passive for my tastes.

As an adult, I don't play a lot of sandbox games. When work and household chores are done and it's time to relax, I'm ready to be taken on someone else's journey for a while.

But when I saw Wobbledogs in a bundle (I honestly can't remember which one) alongside a couple of other games I wanted, something caught my eye. I think the emphasis on breeding and toys brought to mind those old PF Magic Petz gamesI played in my youth. It also seemed very, very silly, which is generally a plus.

An hour or two in, I was feeling a little bored. New dogs were a little different, there was some stuff to do, but it felt like there wasn't much to it.

And then I got my first interesting mutation. And I unlocked more items, some of which resulted in interesting new mechanics. I found a few secrets. I looked at some of the in-game goals and trophies and realized I could probably figure out how to breed wobbledogs that met the requirements.

And now it's many hours later, and I'm still enjoying it.

The UI is a little clunky in places, and I wish the wobbledogs' personality traits progressed as quickly as their physical ones. But it's been a surprisingly fun time.
