I keep playing these low investment games I can just throw on while I listen to some music or watch some youtube videos to see the numbers go up and see things flash all kinds of wonderful colors. What a wonder it is, taking the Diablo click em up, and mixing it with all the Vampire Survivors gameplay of walking around and not even clicking, one handedly. In spite of its very unprofessional and derivative presentation, it has totally mastered the loop and is deeply satisfying. Nothing deep here, and no need. We are here to click shit and try to luck into a fun build and get a 100% or get bored trying. Maybe I can work up the nerve to play something that will make me feel profoundly sad again or something but in the meantime I really like just getting my skeleton army going. I've been too emotionally, physically, and mentally overwhelmed, overloaded with labor to really do anything but these gamer cocomelon games, it seems. It's sort of awesome. Casual roguelikes always got my back.

Jack of all trades, master of none

This game had a lot of really cool elements to it, I'll admit that. I loved Vampire Survivors and Hades, and this had elements of both with a pretty neat loot system (says it's Diablo-esque, but I've honestly never played a Diablo game). This game had a lot of really cool elements to it, I'll admit that. I loved Vampire Survivors and Hades, and this had elements of both with a pretty neat loot system (says it's Diablo-esque, but I've honestly never played a Diablo game). In combining all of these elements, though, it feels like it does nothing really special. Not only that, but it feels like it's directly ripping off certain aspects of different games. The gods that give you powers just comes straight from Hades, timed waves of enemies and bosses at certain milestones that give you rewards in the form of power ups is exactly like Vampire Survivors.

It's impossible to tell when an enemy is attacking at a certain point. The idea of enemies telegraphing where their attacks are going to hit (also from Hades) is a great idea, but when I've got 50+ skeletons all converging on my location, I can't see the ground where the summoner is planning to attack.

The characters aren't different enough in terms of playstyle to warrant having 5 of them. You've got a character that swings a sword, a character that swings a sword, one that swings an axe in a tight circle, one that stabs with 2 knives, and the most different of them, a sorceress who shoots fireballs. All of that combined with equipment management of around 10 pieces for all five of these characters is overwhelming and not fun.

I will give credit where credit is due, I love the idea of certain milestones for each character (also tied to achievements, big plus from me) give you extra perks to make future runs a little easier. It encourages different builds and certain styles of playing. That's about all I've got though. I put a little over 9 hours in, got 60% of the achievements, and had absolutely no desire to play any more. I'm sure if it's something you'll enjoy, you'll really like it. It just maybe wasn't exactly my thing, and the things I didn't like were a much bigger issue compared to what I actually did like.

The best bulletheaven since Vampire Survivors in my book. The pixelart look and presentation are simple but good, but first and foremost it's simply the combat feeling that is great in this one. Modifiers produce visible alterations of your attacks and skill trees feel unique. The roguelite progression is expressed as armory and weapons as item pickups that have different rarities similar to old arpgs games like Diablo. All these are not groundbreaking ideas but make clear what other games in the genres clearly lack.
