Words cannot describe how disappointed I am that this is a gacha and not an actual game. While I tend to be mixed on Kodaka's writing and games (really it's mostly just Rain Code that I hated), when they land, they tend to land hard for me. This is one of those games that for the most part does just that.

The story is quite tame compared to Kodaka's usual work. Part of this is most likely due to the fact that as a gacha, he's probably not allowed to just kill characters at his whim for obvious reasons, which more or less removes the tension his games are known for. For me, this isn't a bad thing at all, and while it still does have its "despair" moments, it allows for the characters to be further developed and actively participate more in the story without fear of them getting murdered. If you know Kodaka, you pretty much know what you're getting into already. The combat is just ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero) at home. If that doesn't make sense to you, it's an action rpg where you have three party members out on the field during combat, start wailing on …

If you know Kodaka, you pretty much know what you're getting into already. The combat is just ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero) at home. If that doesn't make sense to you, it's an action rpg where you have three party members out on the field during combat, start wailing on the enemy, fill the break gauge to then launch chain attacks. Thought it's blatantly more or less a copy of ZZZ's combat, it's not as engaging and mostly just serviceable. Even so, I'm really enjoying what I've played thus far, but what I really like is the absurd extreme debate baseball matches this game uses as its climax for main story chapters.

It's soo dumb and I love it. Unfortunately, the fact that it's a gacha and that it has been received rather poorly on account of copying Mihoyo's gacha structure while being incredibly stingy and unfriendly in its economy for F2P players, means that its future is very uncertain as of now. It's rather disheartening to continue playing knowing this will likely not survive till the end of the year. Attempts are already being made to improve the game's economy but I still wouldn't get my hopes up as this is already an incredibly niche game to begin with.

Again, very disappointed that this isn't just an actual game. I'm enjoying it quite a bit and it can be quite nice looking at times in its presentation. Hope it survives long enough for Kodaka to finish the story, or though extremely unlikely, gets an offline version if it does end up getting axed.
