A game I went into fully blindly, and was surprised to learn the reputation of upon looking for more information about future updates once I completed it.

I never encountered any of the content its (I guess) reputation claims it contains--the entire thing is very strongly written as a "hey abuse and deep trauma really, deeply fucks up your bonds to others, including family; trauma-bonding is very dangerous and warps your perspective on relationships and life."

So once I saw some of the discourse online I was very surprised by the reputation, from a game that is ham-handed (even when being humorous) in its delivery of a constant barrage of clear and concise warnings about allowing your mental health to decay. It practically outright says very often 'hey if you are anything like any of this, go to therapy.' Andrew is constantly at odds with every part of his psyche, constantly recognizes how wrong everything he does and thinks is.

Anyways. I guess I got the 'normal' ending because I didn't make any weirdo choices throughout, so perhaps that shapes my perspective. Regardless, it was en enjoyable narrative game, more akin to a visual novel with basic adventure game mechanics here and there.

The tone was somewhere between Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, and The Craft. Glad I didn't know anything going in, as I'd have skipped this game based on factors that ultimately were not present at all in my playthrough. I guess sometimes it is a very good thing to be someone who doesn't spend much time in online spaces.
