This was a cute game. It was definitely worth checking out as a palate cleanser. I think Sonic is at its best when it's lighthearted and this game is definitely lighthearted. This was a cute game. It was definitely worth checking out as a palate cleanser. I think Sonic is at its best when it's lighthearted and this game is definitely lighthearted. I like the art style, the writing, and seeing under utilized characters get screen time. It was oddly touching playing this game. I will say that there was less sleuthing and more playing a Sonic minigame than I expected, but I had a good time overall. And it was a free surprise drop, can't complain.

Edit: The throwaway line of the conductor retiring after 32 years got to me more than it probably should have to be honest. That line was really what got me to reflect and think about the characters and the history of Sonic because that's exactly when the Sonic series started. This game came out in 2023 and 32 years ago was 1991, the year the first Sonic game was released.

So, uh, this was way better than it had any right to be, lol. All those years of game devs joking that they would make a silly spinoff visual novel every April Fool's Day, but finally Sega does what everyonedon't and actually makes the silly spinoff visual novel for April Fool's Day. And pull out all the stops for it too! Story and artwork feels very reminiscent of the IDW Sonic comics, though I'm not sure if any of the same people are involved.
