Beat on normal. This was the best, or one of the best, shoot 'em ups I have played. It has a surprisingly good length and well crafted mechanics and balance. I found the flying levels to be a bit better than the on foot levels, but both were very good. I mostly used the spread shot on foot and did not see much reason to use the other weapons, mainly due to how little health the enemies have. Flying was much different and I found I needed to use all of the weapons depending on the situation (not so much the bouncy shot but it was handy a few times). A large part of the challenge is knowing which weapon to use and when to use the special attack. What really stands out in this game are 2 simple mechanics that should be in every similar type of game: those are pressing "L" and "R" to aim diagonally without moving the character, and being able to turn the ship around backwards (though sadly it does not stop auto scrolling).
