Unrailed! is all about getting an unstoppable train safely to the station through a variety of procedurally generated maps, both weird and wonderful in online multiplayer, local multiplayer or versus mode.

Fun game with fresh concept.

(Played via Remote Play)

There are many small indie games out there, many of them with exactly the same concept, idea, game mode etc. However, Unrailed! has something unique. You need to transport a train from point A to point B, while completing the tracks under its wheels.

You need to collect stone and wood to build tracks, cool down the engine from time to time using a water bucket and keep an eye of the movement of the train at all times. The multitasking makes it fun, especially with friends, where everyone has a different task.

After each successful mission, you can buy upgrades for your train carts, making the later stages a little easier. However, in the later stages, the train will move faster and faster, giving you less time to complete the track.

When your little train crashes, it is game over. All progress, upgrades and carts are lost, and you may start over again.

Unrailed! uses simple, "Minecraft" graphics which are fine for a simple game like this. The character models look silly and hilarious, especially when moving.

The sound effects and music are alright and just play nicely in the background.

Control wise, this game …

Overall, I liked Unrailed! especially with some friends on a Saturday night. It offers some quick casual fun and with its unique concept, I would surely recommend it.

Busywork: The Game

Playtime: 8 minutes

Review

This game is my personal hell. It's an "action" game in which the "action" is collecting resources and moving them around. On top of that it runs like absolute shit (it hang for over a minute) and it crashed when i Alt+F4ed.

1/10

Like Overcooked but about train tracks.

The concept is simple: 2 button controls, top down view, build tracks so that the train doesn't crash.
But it gains fun, difficulty and complexity quite quickly, as new mechanics are added via new vagons.
And even after you're done playing it, you'll be coming up with new strategies to optimise: rearranging vagons, looping the path to produce more rail tracks for the future, combinations of vagons.
The only gripe is that often you'll have to replay sections of the game because of the weird checkpoint system, where you checkpoint by buying a new locomotive, but also the game encourages you to risk and buy it as late as possible.

Are you kidding me ? (very hard game)

The first time i play it normal. Then i lose after 10min. The second time i played it easy. Then i lose after 11min. Finaly i played it on "kid" mode. Then i lose after 12 min.

I didn't really saw any differences in difficulty. Maybe less unbreackable rocks on easier mode, i don't know...

  • I tried both : Solo with controling one IA and then 4 random people Online. After many hours of games i was able to go on level 2 (desert with camels) with IA on kid mode. But it seems that there is an important strategy with loco that is not very explained : in fact the loco is important to update to make your train slower ! (if you have many wagons maybe) so the strategy of wagon and loco choice is very hard.
  • The escalator music is very cool and will be in your brain for manys months.
  • Multiplayer is a desaster, exept if you have luck and have strong random player. I found a group that made me go to level 4 (haloween) but never on Mars or Space. But it's hard to find 3 skilled people.
  • The game is only keyboard or …

  • The game is only keyboard or pad. I think it's a mouse game, woul be more simple to point and clic.
  • Concept is good, would be certainly more interesting in FirstPerson PointOfView, with more thinking time, maybe a little slower : The game is too much fast. We have no time to think about what we need to do. No time to comunicate with others. No time to think about strategy. It's a 100% stress game that need a try hard to level up.

But 3 stars for concept, ambiant and multiplayer is correct.
