Simple Low Budget Resident Evil
Despair is one of those games that is way too simple and low budget yet it scratches the itch anyways. It is a Resident Evil-like, but with extremely simple level and puzzle design.
It reminded me of Nightmare of Decay - similarly simple and low budget. Except this has fairly modern graphics and satisfying combat (headshot spew visceral ribbons of blood everywhere).
But the puzzles are very simple, the progression is very linear, and the world just feels somewhat filled with bought assets. It’s not original or groundbreaking in any way. But I fully enjoyed it all the same.
