It's definitely admirable that Ubisoft are trying to create a serious COD competitor in XDefiant and I hope they keep at it, but between the general "discount COD" feel, constant jitter on my system (regardless of if DX11 or DX12 is enabled) & the lacking movement compared to Modern Warfare III, I just can't play this game any longer when I can just play MWIII instead. Again, I hope Ubisoft San Francisco can keep up the solid community engagement & responsiveness they've shown thus far and make this an even better COD alternative. Competition is always good for the consumer and COD having a strong, great competitor in XDefiant will only make COD better. But (for me at least), MWIII is the better multiplayer game & I can't imagine that Black Ops 6 will be worse either.
Maybe if this had managed to enter full release before MWIII came out, I'd be more willing to overlook more of XDefiant's shortcomings out of sheer desperation for an alternative to MWII, but... that's not the case.

After reading about the news this week, I have to say I am sad and disappointed an excellent shooter is being shut down. Given how algorithms have taken over gamer experience it was nice to play a game that embraced natural gameplay experiences from the PS3-360 era. Game wasn't perfect by any means but had the game been given more time and polish like R6 Siege got (do people remember that game was AWFUL for a while?) I do think it would of gotten a piece of the audience. Damn shame.
So, the Season 1 update came out & I decided to try XDefiant again bc I had a theory that Nvidia Reflex may have been causing the jittering issues I was experiencing...
I was wrong.
Even trying that, the game still jitters like it drank too much caffeine. Not to mention Ubisoft made some... interesting design choices with the new faction.
So, I'm well and truly out. Gonna just stick to MWIII instead.
Seems like a good F2P take on the short time-to-kill, Call of Duty style of competitive FPS. Not my thing, but if I wanted to play that style, I'd likely go to this.
Like Ubisoft or Call of Duty or Overwatch 1? Play this.
I wrote about the new Ubisoft game and how ridiculous it is that a Tom Clancy branded title is trying to be "punk".

I talk a little about the politics of Clancy, what 'punk' was ideologically and how other games (Watch_Dogs 2, Umurangi Generation) represent the punk ideology better without branding themselves as such.
You can read it here (in spanish).
