Finally started playing this one after seeing the second one was coming out soon on Gamepass. I can see why it's so highly rated! I haven't managed to make it past the 3rd stage but I'm enjoying the game play.

It's been fun. I love this game. But I didn't expected the need to farm for so much Nectar so I can complete the side quest. I wish I knew sooner so I didn't "wasted" so much gems on decorations instead of exchanging them for keys than I can exchange for Nectar.

Anyway, I'm loving spending more time with Zagreus.

I'm writing this after getting the 10 run ending and having Persephone come back to the House of Hades. I'm not sure if I will ever play enough to get to the Epilogue, so I think now is a good time to put my thoughts for the game, and I can always just make an update if I ever do play a lot more. I think this is a really fun rouguelite. For my first few runs I wasn't feeling it, but then something clicked, and I had a lot of fun. At the time of writing, I think all the weapons except the fists and the gun are fun. Tbf, I have barely used the gun, but I have used the fists a decent amount and just don't find them very fun. I will say even the fun weapons, I feel like the combat gets too stale too fast. I wish you could get more than 2 upgrade hammers per run (I know you can technically get 3 with the anvil but that's not what I mean), since those do shake up the gameplay a good amount, but even then I feel like only 20 hours in it already was starting to bore. I also don't love the way multiple runs work. I in concept like the idea of the Pact of Punishment, you can choose how to make the game harder each time, but I wish the game just picked for me, because the different Pacts you can pick vary so wildly in difficulty but end up doing the same thing, and it only becomes a challenge picking which combinations to do once you're at like skull level 10. Lastly for the negatives, I think the boss fights are lackluster. I thought they were really bad for my first few hours but I did warm up to them throughout, but I still don't think they are great, even with the Boss difficulty upgrade Pact. With all that out of the way though, I mostly think this game is great. While the combat can bore sometimes, sometimes it is also just really fun. Everything looks so beautiful, and the story is by far the best out of any roguleite I've played. In the grand scheme of things it's nothing crazy, but I think it's solid and kept me interested throughout. The Gods are also really interesting characters and are fun interacting with. I think the way things are unlocked are pretty well thought out, although I do think the Red Gem upgrade material should be more plentiful. I spent most of the writing talking about what I didn't like about the game but that's just because the game is so close to being perfect for me. In the end though, I think it's very fun and I see myself going back even after the main ending to try and get the epilogue, and I might warm up to some other parts of the game while doing so. Strong 8/10.

When the year started, I thought this would be the perfect time to play previously released games I am interested in since there aren't any announced releases I am strongly drawn to. Nine months in, at least one game that I want to play is going to be released per month. On top of that, it's prime knitting season. I'm really excited for the days ahead.

Hades is amazing and I was thinking it was more of a traditional loot pinata dungeon crawler, which isn't!! Outstanding game so far.

I hit credits again. This time on PlayStation. I don't know why, but the family reunion made me cry. It didn't the first time when I finished it on Switch.

Also, I got a four completed runs in a row... but since I finished it, I've failed seven times in a row and haven't been able to beat [Redacted] again.

Absolutely incredible game. Straightforward gameplay, intricate plot, fantastic writing. I had a lot of fun playing it from start to finish and I am eagerly waiting the release of Hades2 for console (switch).

I'm having so much more fun with God Mode turned on. It's definitely on the easier side now, but hey, having fun is what's important!

Had to turn God Mode on.

This isn't my final opinion on the game, but for some reason, the repetition is setting in much faster than it did with Gungeon and Slay the Spire. It's nice having new conversations with characters upon death, but idk, the moment-to-moment gameplay (this is with the 6 weapons in mind) is starting to feel …

This isn't my final opinion on the game, but for some reason, the repetition is setting in much faster than it did with Gungeon and Slay the Spire. It's nice having new conversations with characters upon death, but idk, the moment-to-moment gameplay (this is with the 6 weapons in mind) is starting to feel monotonous. Idk what it is about Gungeon and StS, but I have many hours on them but they still feel fresh to play.
