Loving the tense, stormy atmosphere of the game and the way you can linger in each room to soak up the gorgeous art design. Feeling like I may have an idea as to what is going on, but we'll just have to see. Going to continue searching the downstairs of the house for more clues.

Gone Home has been on my "want to play" list for quite some time. So, of course, when it became one of the Xbox Games with Gold, I downloaded it immediately. I love a game with a great story, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed with this one!

Another game I watched most of online, but wanted a chance to explore on my own. Unfortunately, the PS4 version's text is very hard to read. Looks like I would have been better off getting it for PC.

Beautiful and inspiring. A powerful case for games as interactive storytelling. The sensation of immersion in someone else's life was immediate and the revelations were perfectly paced.

The completion time is for my second playthough. I don't actually know how long my first play through was. maybe a bit longer since I didn't know exactly what to do the first time. Or maybe a bit shorter because on my second play through I made sure to grab the two audio logs I missed the first time.

This was my game of the year in 2013

There seems to be a lot of controversy about this game, which boils down to two issues: 1) The old "is it a game" baloney <YAWN>, and 2) a supposedly unacceptable cost/length ratio. There seems to be a lot of controversy about this game, which boils down to two issues: 1) The old "is it a game" baloney <YAWN>, and 2) a supposedly unacceptable cost/length ratio. As for the first, I simply don't give a crap. Call it whatever you want, I don't see why it matters. It's a moving experience, and that's all that I care about.
The second issue is very subjective. I paid $18 and don't feel ripped off, but I can see why some people would feel like $18-20 for a 2-4 hour game is unreasonable. It's certainly true that it's not in line with the pricing of other games of similar length, but let the market decide. It's the developer's right to set whatever price they want. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you bought it and weren't satisfied with the experience, don't buy their next game. Welcome to capitalism, folks! But I think it's a shame that people are allowing the cost/length ratio to influence their critical reponse to the game. It's a consumer review issue, not an artistic criticism.
All that being said, I was surprised and moved and genuinely touched by Gone Home in a way that few games have done. If you like interesting narrative and characters in games, I highly recommend it.

A "rummage through someone's house' simulator. Ever want to dig through a stranger's drawers and discover their secrets? This game is for you!

Oddly enough, despite knowing this is in no way a 'scary' game, I did find myself a bit jumpy. Going around a corner, seeing a shadow, you convince yourself you've seen something. The atmosphere of the game is superb.

The story is wonderful and as such, I highly recommend the game as well.
