Original review: I really enjoyed getting to explore more of the planet Batuu, after visiting the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge theme park at Disney. This game has really fun and challenging shooting combat, cool collectibles to find, great environments, and challenges and side quests to do after you complete the main story. I liked this experience better than Vader Immortal, which did not give me the feeling exploration that I wanted.
UPDATE: The Last Call expansion brings this game to 5 stars, and is a must-get in my opinion. You get to play a tale as IG-88! It’s incredible! Everything about the game is elevated in the second part, and really makes it feel full and complete. Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge is, in my opinion, a more compelling experience than Half Life: Alyx. I feel a stronger connection to the story, characters, and environments in this game, and, now that Last Call completes it, I think it is severely underrated.
A fun VR shooter/adventure game, that immerses you very well in the Star Wars universe (there's even a couple of guest stars with the original actors doing the voices) and gives you interesting stuff to do in terms of interaction. While it's of course not on par with something like Half-Life: Alyx, it works well, takes great advantage of the Oculus Quest ease of movement (I even played it in my garden and walking around in those settings was really great), has got a lovely interface, with an impressive level of customisation, gives you production values for an Oculus Quest game and it's a fun ride. Plus, there's a couple of nice side missions. I see people criticize it for being a bit on the short side but honestly I thought it ends right before it would start becoming too much repetitive.
This game is super cool, but I'm such a freakin dilettante with my gaming that I got halfway through and then didn't return for over a year. Now I've forgotten everything and don't want to restart. I'll probably bumble around from my last save again and try to figure out something, after watching a guide or two.
I still think that this is the best made-for-VR game yet and I recommend it about as strongly as other people would recommend something like Half-Life: Alyx. This game plus the DLC is without a doubt one of my favorite Star Wars adventures.
