Good story, repetitve gameplay
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

The game dragged on for too long. I wish they had stopped it after the Sandland river arc, and probably just release a sequel. I say that because the gameplay is same all over and over and over again. You roam around the map, find things, upgrade, do some repetitive extras. What enticed me first was the bots, but it soon got too monotonous. Finding new bots did not feel much rewarding, although each served a different purpose but there wasn't much excitement in using a different kind of bot. In the end they felt monotonous.

All bot fights, including boss fights, are super easy, you just cruise around in circles in the arena and you can easily avoid all major attacks. Melee combat is a little better but it gives much less damage to machines and bigger enemies, that it will drag the fight for too long.

The graphics are decent like Dragon ball sparking zero. One issue I encountered was that every time the game had to render an animation or an area for the very first time then the game would stutter. Example - I gain a new bot, then using an attack for the first time …

Example - I gain a new bot, then using an attack for the first time would cause the game to stutter. Once it was rendered then it would run smooth.

But the story was very interesting so I couldn't help but keep playing, albeit dreadfully, praying for it to end soon.

Has anyone played Sand Land and enjoyed it? It’s 45% off at Gamebillet, and I’m kind of tempted but don’t know what I should expect.

Saw last night that the demo dropped, so I'm hoping to play a bit of that sometime today. I have a full work day and then a dumb training for three hours immediately after. :c

I’m a fan of the manga for showcasing peak Akira Toriyama in a smaller, digestible story. It’s a great fit for a game, I hope they do it justice!
