Total Chaos is a relentless survival horror experience from Trigger Happy Interactive (creator of Turbo Overkill) and Apogee Entertainment. Washed ashore on Fort Oasis, a long-abandoned mining colony swallowed by decay, players must scavenge for supplies, craft makeshift weapons, and navigate a world where hallucinations warp reality and unspeakable horrors lurk in the shadows. With dynamic AI-driven enemies, a Madness system that distorts perception, and a brutal fight for survival, Total Chaos pushes the boundaries of psychological horror. V1CGaming's review of Total Chaos
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

Total Chaos is a game of extremes for me. I really like its combat and survival elements, but the action of melee and gunplay against the lesser enemies is less enjoyable than I would have hoped. There is also some noticeable jankiness that pulls away from its best elements. However, I was almost always enamored with Total Chaos’ set pieces, environment, and sound.

The bigger scares in this game and the build-ups to them are great. It’s not often we see such a thematic change between games like the move from Turbo Overkill to Total Chaos, but I think Trigger Happy Interactive has built something quite fun with this game. It might not always be consistent, but when Total Chaos hits, it hits like a sledgehammer crushing a twisted figment of our warping sanity.

Played the demo for this one, and I was really impressed. Ran like butt on my GTX 1060 - more on that in a bit - but it had me feeling a sense of dread and tension that's really hard to get right in games. It really skirted the line between too slow and too loud perfectly.

I had no idea til doing some reading just now, but apparently this is a ground-up remake of a Doom II mod. Definitely got OG Doom vibes from the lightning fast walk speed, but other than that, I would have had no idea.

I have had to upgrade my PC's power supply, CPU and motherboard over the last couple of years, but it's become apparent my 1060 just can't keep up with even indie games at 1080p anymore. Definitely time for an upgrade. I barely use my PC for gaming, and the 5700XT seems to fill a perfect balance of large upgrade and low price (around $200CDN). Probably gonna pick one up used, maybe even pick one up today on eBay. Gonna scroll around local classifieds first, but it's kinda cool to find something that makes the upgrade feel worth it.
