Flynn: Son of Crimson is a consistently fun and rewarding action platformer. It controls well, the upgrades have a perceptible influence on combat, the pixel art is gorgeous and the music is lovely.
I fear Flynn will recede in my memory a bit quicker than the similarly-overlooked Islets, as its world, setting and residents all feel a bit familiar. But I enjoyed going on such a well-crafted and straightforward adventure.
This game kinda came out of nowhere for me, but it's a really, really good platformer. Simple yet effective: you control Flynn on his quest. He starts with a sword and during the game he acquires new weapons and abilities, and combat is mainly focused on dodging the enemies' attacks and counterattack. Nothing complex, but it works and it's fun. Controls are tight and precise, the game is really a pleasure to play and it's really engaging, I found myself unable to stop playing, it's always "just one more stage".
I had such an incredible time with this game! The platforming was fun and I loved the progression of gaining new skills and being able to use them to reach new areas or take shortcuts through each area. The accessibility setting made it so that the combat never felt daunting or like a road block for me and greatly increased my enjoyment of the game. The story was fun and I felt interested and curious to see how everything would conclude. When you are able to go through levels with the dog it is so much fun and I just couldn’t get enough! Just a lovely game that really lets the player enjoy the game in a way that works best for them which I appreciate so so much!
I am probably half way through the game, clocking in at about 5.5h-6h & loving almost every minute of it. The art design, combat, music... this is what I needed. Starting to dread The Scourge versions of levels though - every time one pops up it feels like it's stopping my progress and I don't like it.

My palate cleanser after the completion of Doom (2016) and hours spent with id's title. Starting it tonight on Xbox Series S, hopefully it's not too generic...
A random pick from game pass that my girlfriend picked and I feel like this needs more attention! I LOVED IT!!! Took me about 3 days but got the 101% the Bosses were a little to easy though.
