One more day until the Xbox Summer Game Fest Demo Event. One more day until I can play some more Tunic. And play a demo of Sable. And 38 other mostly indie games. Here are some details pulled from the blog post (linked above):
Starting June 15 and running through June 21, you’ll be able to try out over 40 demos of upcoming unreleased games for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One!
A few things to keep in mind:
- These are not normal “game demos.” Typically, the demos you see in our Demo channel are created after the game is completed (or nearly completed) and represent the final version. Many of these demos are early, and some are for games that won’t be out for quite some time. Think of these as akin to “show floor demos” and not necessarily indicative of the final product. What that means is that you’ll get to experience these games early – some way early – which is awesome, but you should also note that these games will continue to evolve and be polished as they near release.
- These demos will only be up on the Xbox Dashboard for a week. Some might be re-published to the Demo channel later, but many will simply evaporate at the end of the week, so make sure to check them out while you can.
- The developers would love to hear what you think. Hit them up on social media or through their websites. If you like the game – tell them! If you have constructive criticism, they would love to hear that too.

New demo for Tunic out next week, as part of Summer Game Fest. Apparently 40 games will be offered up on demo for a week starting 15 July. Sable will also have a demo. I’m stoked for both games.

The Tunic dev posted a brand new animation from the game on his Twitter account yesterday, and I'm salivating. It's just a giant gate opening, but it looks phenomenal. Can I admit something? Tunic is one of the top five reasons I bought an Xbox. I'm dying to play this game.

It just dawned on me, I can play this when it is (hopefully) released this year. I played, and enjoyed the demo, last year as part of Indie Arena Online. But my computer could barely handle it because my only Windows machine is a dual boot MacBook Pro, the very last model with an optical drive. It has an i7 …

But my computer could barely handle it because my only Windows machine is a dual boot MacBook Pro, the very last model with an optical drive. It has an i7 processor (Ivy Bridge), but very basic integrated graphics card (Intel HD 4000). So it struggled on Tunic. But now I have an Xbox, something I didn't even conceive of early last year, and I am set. Bring it on baby, I can't wait to play Tunic!

There’s a playable demo of Tunic available on Steam and at Indie Arena Online.
So far it’s just as cute as I expected, but it plays even better. It’s really quite wonderful, even if it represents an earlier stage of the game. I continue to be really excited for this.

P.S. I love this track from the game. It gives me serious Chrono Trigger vibes, and I love that the people working on Tunic are likely fans of some of my favourite games of all time.
