Wow, what a fun, arcade-y game. Typically, I don't see games doing this many varied mechanics very well. It tends to get overwhelmed. Split Fiction manages to introduce one, iterate on it for a level, and then on rare occasion go back to it. The lets the player focus, which is a smart element. In addition, the game just keeps most of the mechanics pretty simple.
I am also having a blast with all the creative, set piece moments. Thematically they don't have to tie into the main game much (they are just pieces of an idea) and that gives the developers a lot of freedom to just do something fun.
