Nearly as great as season 1, but some bad flaws
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

This game continues the amazing horror story of season 1. Each location offers a more sprawling map than last season, with a lot of the game being a massive improvement on the original.

The island is an incredible map, and probably my favorite. It has a masterful atmosphere that filled me with dread. I also loved the manor, with a great riddle section. The game also has incredible pixel art, a noticeable improvement on the first season and paves the way for Blasphemous.

But some pretty important negatives are here too. Quite a few puzzles are too impossible without a guide. Also, the ending episode is very underwhelming and ends way too suddenly. It really put a damper on my overall feelings.

Bring the pieces together in this pixel-art mystery sequel

The Last Door: Season 2 continues the story of the first season from a different character's perspective; a doctor goes on a search for his patient and has to uncover the mysteries of a cult that works on seeking a way to a different realm.

The horror elements are less frequent but the unsettling atmosphere that defines The Last Door are still present. There are further details that both add to the complex story while answering important questions that set and drive it throughout the game. Even as I read through its wikia page, some plot details remain open for the players to speculate but I am somewhat fascinated by what the Poe-/Lovecraft-inspired game world brings to the table.

The low-res pixel graphics are still held up in good standards and uniquely adds to the immersion. Horror adventure fans would do themselves a favour to play it in the dark on their way through this unpredictable journey.
