This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

This game was mostly a disappointment to me, it feels like a cheap f2p spin-off to the main series. Surprisingly, it was even boring to play in co-op. The game is too repetitive, all the quests have the same design: go to new location, clear 2-3 dungeons there with a boss in each one, return to the city for a new quest. I'm glad that it was quite short adventure, about 11 hours.

A lot of things were simplified there. First of all, characters don't have stats like strength and dexterity, you level up only skills. There are less gear: no rings or amulets, and I got a lot of duplicated legendary items through the game. Speaking of them, legendary drop there is abnormal, it's okay to get 5 items in a 30 minutes session. It makes gambling and gold there absolutely useless.

They added fort building mechanics, but I didn't find it interesting. Also, transit game locations implied that I could see a fort of a different player there, but I haven't found any, so it just doesn't work. They also added a lot of different pets. Well, okay, now there are too many of them and I just …

Overall, this is a bad game and it doesn't worth your attention. Luckily, we have better Torchlights.

loved the previous franchises...

The buggiest game I have ever played on Xbox- the audio during cutscenes don't work, pets disappear/don't follow, audio cues delayed, LAG, money not picking up, etc...

Powers and monsters are fun and challenging, would be great if everything else is fixed...

An okay game..

There are a lot of small game design issues (like the fort, the linear world, skill progression and build customization, fast travel, map resets, lack of story), and still some minor bugs (optimization, pet is disappearing, levels don't render, enemies get stuck, you get stuck, etc.)

...but it's still fun! It has the Torchlight feeling to it, animations and sound are great, gameplay is snappy. I wish there was a bit more variety in environments, skills, enemies, bosses and gear. There is no evolution to TL2, but I guess if you liked the predecessor, you may like this game too (if not for the fishing).

I’m currently playing torchlight 3. It’s clearly unfinished and the way they do pathing between maps is terrible but it’s still mindless fun.

If it was named something different to torchlight I’m sure it wouldn’t be so totally brigaded.

Weak ARPG, delayed damage and loot drop makes the game feel laggy and sluggish. Also UI feels very fremium / mobile-gamey. Overall quite a sad end to what is sure to be the last installment of this franchise.

Seeking to answer the age old question, "what if Diablo was clunkier and worse?" I have decided to give this game a try... A few hours in now and it's not looking good lol
