I also remember in 2007 spending a lot of my summer roadtrip with a portable hotspot and a laptop playing the game. The next time I remember playing a lot was at my college with a friend of mine. Then over the years no matter what updates theyve done I've played on and off. Having played the game for hundreds of hours (at least) between 2006-2008, I have been really enjoying this series that goes through every quest in "Old School RuneScape" in release order. Though I think nowadays I would never have the patience to play an MMO, there was definitely something special about this game back in the day. Its scope, sense of freedom, and community interaction were kind of the main draw, but the authored quests had a fun sense of humor and gave a lot of life to the game as well. There is a lot more nostalgic pull than I expected with some of these things.

I just stopped playing Runescape, cold turkey. I told none of my RS buds, but after Completionist-ing and keeping it up for a bit over a year, that was enough. No more MMO whatever for me. I will always treasure Runescape for filling most of my highscool and college days, but man Runescape was kinda bad (gameplay wise), despite all …

This game was pure genius until it became commercial.
