I’m having a blast with this one! It’s so much fun, and the combat is really satisfying. I only got it because ppl said it was very inspired by NieR:A - while that certainly is the case, StellarBlade definitely is its own thing.

I enjoyed this for a while thanks to its flashy combat, but now have lost my momentum on it pretty hard. The story and world aren’t really that interesting, the bigger encounters are fun but not really particularly memorable, and there’s stuff like platforming/shooting/larger open areas that I could do without. Just not really bringing me back even though I …

Starting playthrough #3.

I really love this game but I hate I can't interact with its community because is full of mysoginistic assholes.

I'm done. With this plot and lore analysis of Stellar Blade (in spanish) I'm finishing my coverage of the game. With the review, guides and other articles I did about it, I practically wrote a book.

This one is almost 4000 words tying to make sense of the weird and incoherent story of the game, talking about the nonsensical religious references and the technophobic themes of the game.

My boss finally told me to write about other games so you can expect something about Another Crab's Treasure and Mullet MadJack in the near future... but if Stellar Blade receives gets another popularity peak I'll probably be back in the mines, writing a fishing guide for the game.

So is the controversy from sad little boys who can't get their rocks off over the protagonist finally over?

I'm still in the Stellar Blade mines, excavating Stellar Blade content because my previous articles and guides were very well received.

Right now I'm writing a plot analysis that is well over 3000 words and probably will reach 4000. Is not that it is a complex story, but its so incoherent and has so many plot holes that I'm doing …

I really didn't know if I wanted to give it 3 or 2 stars. I played 4 hours worth of gameplay, it supposedly takes 12 hours to beat the game if you're just going for the story. it just wasn't for me personally.

Gameplay is not perfect but it is good. enjoyed the level ups and unlocking new perks from the skill tree, weapon upgrades, I'm not a parry type of guy but the game made it enjoyable. Music was enjoyable as well, it's visually good. I recommend turning on auto loot so you don't have to hold R2 all the time to pick up loot after killing an enemy or getting loot from destroying a box

I personally felt like the combat was bit slow but the parry and dodge made up for that slowness. combat if you're fighting multiple enemy's its okay, it feels like combat is more of a 1 on 1 thing. The story is what killed it for me thought. I just wasn't intrigued at all, had a good start to it but later was just really slow .( spoiler) for up to 4 hours you're just going on a hunt for this Naytiba that killed your friend. the protagonist seems like she cares but at the same time doesn't express that. I would personally recommend just waiting for the price to go on sale before spending $69.99. enter image description here

  • Demo releases and the developer releases a tone deaf advisory to consumers dismissing concerns about input delay in stellar blade, pivots to blaming user's TVs + monitors

  • Instead of pressuring the developer to address the problem before full release (ala lies of P's scuffed dodge roll) the enthusiastic fan base dismisses feedback re: input delay, claiming to debunk the allegation, only to later claim it might be legit but is fixed via a placebo (turning off HDCP, a ps5, not game setting).

  • Some games media run stories uncritically promoting this fake fix or disputing the existence of input lag in the demo

  • Reviewers get early copies of the game (without this day one patch) and very few acknowledge or address this gameplay issue

  • Digital Foundry is one of the select few outlets who acknowledge the issue, but hand wave the issue as something they adjusted to after playing for awhile (which not to get sidetracked, but is a pretty hilarious approach for a site whose reputation is built on exhaustive performance analysis of new releases... stellar blade is 'flawless' as the reviewer didn't think noticeable input lag constituted a technical flaw. I'm sure all of the previous titles they scrutinized for pop-in or frame drops would have loved this incredibly charitable "I'm ignoring a technical flaw just because I got used to it" approach.. but I digress.)

  • Shift Up posts that they fixed the issue to (rightful) adulation

This is great news that addresses my only real gameplay related concern with the title but boy does this sequence feel ugly.

I really hope this game does well in Latin America and Spain because I spend the last two weeks writing non-stop about it. There's an invasion on guides an articles about Stellar Blade in GamerFocus right now.

If you want to read (in spanish) about the game or need some guides, there it is.

I thought the demo for this is pretty fun. If the full game reviews well I might pick it up some time this year. It's got a fun combat system which the demo shows off well by giving you a bunch of upgrades and enemy types to try out. The level designs seem pretty decent, some stuff hidden around, some opportunities for stealth, good density of combat encounters and rest points. One concern is that it seems maybe a bit too cutscene heavy compared to like... how actually interesting the story is. And I see that the game is anywhere from 25-50 hours long, which makes me wonder how much it develops from the feel of the demo. I would have guessed at first that it was like a 12 hour long action game, but this is more in the realm of a proper action RPG. Guess I'll see what people say when it comes out for real.
