Drbeatboxnik's review of Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy!
This review is for the PlayStation 4 version

Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! is a grind-heavy dungeon-crawler with cute character designs and a satisfying gameplay loop (if you like grinding). I really did enjoy the base dungeons, going through them floor-by-floor and finding new equipment while leveling up each job class. I was less interested in the more puzzle-heavy dungeons, meaning the dungeons that had particular restrictions and seemed designed to test how well you could navigate the floors with different job classes. I could see why people would find those rewarding when the base dungeons can be brute-forced through basically to the end but I just didn’t want to invest the time into figuring out the best approach for these puzzle dungeons. Altogether this is a cute game that’s pretty perfect for a younger person just getting into dungeon-crawlers or for an older person who appreciates a grindy game with an adorable protagonist.

I know this is a great game for one very simple reason, I don't hate the fishing mini-game.

This is my kind of grind. Every time I find a new job I switch back to grinding to level it up to match the max level of the rest of my jobs. I am a little behind in the story as a result, but I just so love leveling jobs. You never know which job you'll want for a particular dungeon, so leveling them all seems the best way to go. Plus, Chocobo is so cute in his little outfits.

This game isn’t just cute, it’s surprisingly excellent. The dungeon crawling aspect is weirdly a lot of fun and I love my Chocobo White Mage. I can’t wait to pick up the Scholar job. This is the first mystery dungeon game I’ve played and I’m definitely into it.

So I bought this. I haven't played much, but it's super cute so far. I do wish it had a Japanese voice audio track but the game is adorable enough that I can forgive Square for not including it.

So I found more about the game:

I guess my question now is whether the North American version will feature both English and Japanese voice acting. Anyone have experience with Nintendo versions of games like this, do they typically have multiple language packs? I'd rather just get the North American version, but not if it is limited to English voice acting.

Update: importing the Asian version that has Japanese voice and English text is prohibitively expensive for a game I'm not certain I like. I like Chocobos a lot, especially cute ones, but I don't know if importing this for $80 CAN is worth it. Here's hoping the NA version has Japanese voice.

This game has job classes! I am a sucker for jobs. I might have to buy this just to an adorable white mage chocobo!!!

Has anyone played the original?

Oh my god I am dying, this is so cute!

Edit: is this not going to be released in a physical edition?
