RoadTo360 39, Bullet Witch: Slinging Bullets and Shooting Magic
This review is for the Xbox 360 version

I am on a journey to beat 360 random Xbox 360 games. Here's my next adventure

Game number 39 was Infinite Undiscovery. This game is a 3rd Person Shooting game, where you take control of a witch named Alicia as she goes on a journey to destroy the source of Demons entering the world. Along the way, you will need to shoot and utilize magic to defeat a ton of demons and a few boss battles.

Bullet Witch’s story is pretty bare bones. The Earth got overrun by natural disasters around 2010 and the human population was in shambles. By 2013 demons were inhabiting most of the human corpses and set to kill off the few remaining humans. For some reason, Alicia is able to control magic and she needs to go defeat the biggest, baddest demon so that the rest of the demons will stop inhabiting the Earth. Along the way, she meets up with a military unit who flirts with her in every conversion and “helps” her defeat some of the enemies.

The combat in this game is really fun. Alicia’s gun controls very well and there is no need for you to be repeatedly reloading like every …

For some reason, Alicia is able to control magic and she needs to go defeat the biggest, baddest demon so that the rest of the demons will stop inhabiting the Earth. The combat in this game is really fun. Alicia’s gun controls very well and there is no need for you to be repeatedly reloading like every other game. Enemies are pretty varied for the meager 6 levels of play and there is a ton of magic to utilize to your benefit. My favorite magic spell was essentially a force push. There are a ton of random objects that you can smash into the demons with it and it is so satisfying to get kills in this way.

The boss battles in this game were less than amazing. I think there were only two stand out bosses and they looked a whole lot cooler than they actually played. The first boss was a giant flying creature that Alicia fights on top of a flying plane. This boss is really annoying with its projectiles and I didn’t really like the actual fight (the setting was cool though). The final boss was pretty good… but it went on a little too long for my tastes.

This game does not look very good. I thought that the graphics looked more like a PS2 game than an Xbox 360 game and it was pretty disappointing. To combat this, there are a pretty diverse selection of levels and the settings were pretty cool to wander around. Alicia doesn’t do any of this quite as well as Bayonetta though… and I feel like Bullet Witch was made as a direct piece of competition to that game.

Overall, I think it is worth playing Bullet Witch if you really want an interesting 3rd Person Shooter game. The combat is deep and mastering it is very satisfying. Unfortunately, there is minimal story to back up this gameplay, the graphics are pretty bad, and the story is really short. (6/10)

I spent 4 hours, 37 minutes, and 22 seconds playing Bullet Witch.

I have spent a total of 402 hours and 51 minutes on the Road to 360 challenge so far.

Next Game: Enslaved Odyssey to the West

Bad Old Game

Is hard not to compare this game with Blodrayne. A scantily-clad magical woman with big weapons fighting off hordes of supernatural abominations. But while Bloodrayne was an action-pack adventure, Bullet Witch is just kind of dull. The main character's movement is kind of stilted and robotic and the controls don't lend themselves to fast action. For example, there's a half second animation before your gun starts shooting makes everything stop. Jumping around looks great and can be useful for avoiding attacks, but it takes to long from the time you fall to the ground to the moment you can start shooting again. Couple that with horrible voice acting, huge but empty completely empty levels, amateurish sound design, and enemies that can one-kill you by flinging cars that come out of nowhere and the end result is a very unpleasant experience.

It's a shame because I really like the design. The huge weapon on your back looks awesome and how it cycles between different forms is pretty neat.

This game had a lot of potential. Honestly, I would love to see it remade and fleshed out. Explore the characters more (not the army guy, he is terrible and should be removed), add details to the levels, improve the acting, tweak the writing, and this would be a pretty good game. I know the development had some difficulties with the tech, so I don't exactly blame them for what we got. Fingers crossed this gets a remake someday!

Y'all remember Bullet Witch? I played that. I BEAT that. It was years ago, but I think about that game from time to time. I know it didn't do well at all, but you can unlock costumes and I fought demon dragons with a giant swordgun on the wing of an airplane while dressed as a schoolgirl. Best game ever, honestly. Fuckin' Bullet Witch, man.
