There was a patch the other day that added a bunch of content for free to Puyo Puyo Champions. Now the game includes lessons to teach basics and strategies for playing Puyo Puyo, problems to solve (that let you put into practice what you learn from the lessons), and challenge modes that let you play Puyo Puyo on your own without an opponent to worry about. This is especially welcome for me, for trying to just practice making chains without worrying about the enemy AI sending a bunch of garbage puyo my way. Now I feel I can more strongly recommend this game to newcomers who are curious about the fun world of Puyo Puyo.
Puyo Puyo Champions is just Puyo Puyo 2 and Puyo Puyo Fever made available for playing on current-gen consoles. Which is great. I wish more video game companies would do this sort of thing -- just make older multiplayer games available for everyone to jump into and have online matches. I'd be ecstatic to play ChuChu Rocket with people online (with modern-day console online capabilities), for another Sega example.
There is also a tournament mode if you have a bunch of friends over, and some other nice quality of life features that make this worth picking up for any Puyo Puyo fans out there. If you are brand new to the world of Puyo Puyo, I recommend picking up Puyo Puyo Tetris instead, as that includes a nice variety of fun modes and can ease you into Puyo Puyo a little more easily.
