SWOPTS is a nice simple market trading simulator game with a few supplemental designs to support the main gameplay. This is overall a well made game. It's not very deep, but its got a great look, sound aesthetic and style, and what is there works well.
This game is basically a fully-fledged version of the organic trading sim from Cruelty Squad with a several extra features added to it to make it better: It's got a Realtime (simplified) auction-type bidding system for individual organs of your choosing. (This is the main segment of the game and plays almost like a reflex-based puzzle 'drop' type game) You can both influence the market by buying the same kind of organs (assuming you've invested in 'index' coupons for them, as well as complete a kind of 'quest board' where other people request you to give them certain organs. All three systems complete each other fairly nicely and let you allocate your money and your time during the 'day/turn' to different strategic purposes. I can't fault the game for anything it's doing here!
In addition to this, the soundtrack is fantastic. I've not quite heard a soundtrack that operates in 'layers' where certain 'layers' …

In addition to this, the soundtrack is fantastic. I've not quite heard a soundtrack that operates in 'layers' where certain 'layers' activate or deactivate based on their pitch (passes or cuts them off) the result is a really dynamic kind of soundtrack but it's isolated to the particular submenus as you flip through them. (Watch a 'let's play' to understand how it works if i'm not being clear enough, i think it works great!)
Unfortunately, the game's faults are for what it doesn't do... There's not really much of a story here (there are random events and different endings associated with different factions, but with the RE's it's not clear what causes them or what the consequences even are. And who knows what the other factions are in this game. You really don't get a good sense of the universe or what being a 'space warlord' even means. (It's all window dressing for the trading sim)
Essentially this is a financial real time strategy game that hinges on almost being a clicker game in how rapid you have to act in the auction house. The faster you roll the next day, the faster the profits roll in. I found both the mechanical design of it and style of it all pretty interesting and unique, and the gameplay absolutely manic.
A shame its so short (quite easy to figure this out and finish it in a few hours, if that) I wanted to give it five stars for its creativity, and being the best in the genre in the world of trading sims that I've come across... But the short length of it and the fact there isn't really that much exposition for the narrative aspects of it make me wanting a bit more from it. I hope Strange Scaffold's other titles are as interesting as this one. Perhaps SWOTS gets a sequel addressing some of the shortfalls, or there is at some point another spiritual successor.
Today is the first day I heard of this game, through this:

On February 10, 2023, user "Swag Gucci Balenciaga Corndog" on Steam completed this bounty and summitted proof of his run.
