Disappointed

Well, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with this game. So much was promised, but unfortunately, I found it monotonous and boring. The story had no real impact at all. The whole concept of wetware and all that sci-fi stuff felt rather unsatisfying. I love sci-fi and usually enjoy anything in that direction, but this just didn’t feel …

Amazing sci-fi point and click!

Really loved this one. The puzzles are great, the story is good, the environments, just about everything.

Ending area/puzzles though weren’t really that great, and the story got a bit convoluted near the end too… only thing keeping it from 5 stars.

A Good But Forgettable Point and Click Sci Fi Adventure

I'd like to give this 3 and a half stars. I felt pretty similar to this game as I did after playing through Gemini Rue. It's well done, good voice acting, it has an interesting and cohesive story, and the puzzles were challenging yet never too frustrating. All the marks of a great adventure game, right?

Nothing really struck me as unforgettable though. I'll compare two other sci fi games by Wadjet Eye to try to make my point. I really couldn't tell you why years after playing Primordia that I remember some parts vividly and was captivated by the plot and the characters, yet I can't remember a thing about Gemini Rue. I know a few years from now, I'll remember nothing about Technobabylon either.

I don't regret playing the game though, and feel like if you enjoy gritty, dystopian future cyperpunk stories that you'll like it too.

A great story for a perfectible game

I absolutely enjoyed the world and story of this game but the plot was really hard to get into as some of the core world building elements are not explained until the second half of the game.

Voice acting and sound design is great. Graphics ... well just look at a screenshot and see if its for you.

The gameplay …

The gameplay was okayish, some puzzles were completely random and had me just trying every possible item combination but a few moments in the game were really clever and original.

So overall a good surprise for a small indie game like this, quite hyped to see how the sequel turns out

Adventure gaming at its best

Technobabylon is a great adventure game. It's the best one I've played in recent years and perhaps the best I've ever played. It has a logical, mystery at its core, a setting both believable and intriguing and puzzles which make sense (which isn't something completely common in adventure games).

The weakest part is the graphics, looking aged and lacking details. The second-worst is the slowness of walking and the lack of quick exists, but those aren't so bad since the screens are pretty small.

The writing is superb and the main characters are believable and likeable, except for the villains, of course. The voice-overs are excellent and together these make the dialogues the strongest part of the game.

This cyberpunk mystery is highly recommended...heck, it even has multiple endings!

Downright marvelous

I instantly fell in love with the detailed science fiction world of Technobabylon. The progressive plot revealed just enough in each chapter to keep me guessing almost all the way to the closing credits. All endings I found were equally satisfying, though perhaps not as gratifying as progressing before all the pieces were there. The story is quite complex, but …

The story is quite complex, but coherent and rewarding if one pays attention. I am also impressed by the gorgeous backgrounds and captivating soundtrack. The puzzles are so well balanced that I never got really stuck even though I felt fairly challenged most of the time. In short, this is exactly the kind of game I always hope to find when trying a new title. Please create the sequel hinted at on the commentary track!
