Gripper's 'boss rush on a bike premise' does shine in some specific scenarios. Particularly, the way that having wide turn angles interacts with 'bullet hell' like dodging does offer some interesting strategy.
But ultimately, that premise is undermined by a core grappling hook system that resets your velocity every time you grab important objects, as well as boring memorization based racing sequences that add nothing to the game except frustration.
At times its mildly entertaining, but it always falls short of being truly gripping.
