I had a fiddle around with this game the other night, it's called Deathtrap Dungeon. Took a while to get it working nicely on PC, with decent graphics and my controller working. I started playing and I found the game rather enjoyable, though admittedly it's not the most attractive thing I've ever seen. The gameplay feels like going through an extended Sen's Fortress, except without the ability to control the camera (often you're given weird Resident Evil dutch angles). The style is a very over-the-top 90's action-fantasy setting, complete with the impaled heads, metal soundtrack, demons, imps, spike pits, clowns, all that good stuff. Looking forward to playing this through at some point, I wonder how difficult those later stages will be..

There are some other really good games I've heard about from this era/genre. One is called Enclave (2003) but I've been told that the true gem is called Severance: Blade Of Darkness (2001). Sadly Severance isn't available on Steam, and it has been removed from GoG and it's very difficult to find. Apparently it's a long forgotten masterpiece, playing it feels like an early precursor to Demon's Souls.
