Interesting idea, mediocre game
I borrowed a ps4 copy of this from my local library - thankfully I didn't spend a dime on this game. The draw of a point-and-click style adventure game reboot with updated graphics and gameplay was a pretty good hook. So was the gothic horror premise of the game.

I borrowed a ps4 copy of this from my local library - thankfully I didn't spend a dime on this game. The draw of a point-and-click style adventure game reboot with updated graphics and gameplay was a pretty good hook. So was the gothic horror premise of the game.
And while the story of a cursed line of Scottish nobles continued to be intriguing (enough for me to continue through to the ending), the game fell short on... most other levels. The animations are stiff and most times out of sync, which is a serious disappointment when the voice acting in the game is actually pretty good. The controls handle like an arcade crane grab: lagging at the best of times and completely unresponsive in others.
But worst of all were the loading screens. The graphics in this game are not over the top. I don't care as much about graphics when it comes to rating a game. The textures and environments aren't fancy, but they get the job done. There is NOTHING in this game that should cause it to have a loading screen. Between. Every. Room.
On the bright side, the game got me interested in the idea of Black Mirror enough that I picked up the original on Steam.
